Hockey News! Special Edition Vol: 5.05

This is the 106th posting of the news articles from the Beer and Pretzel Hockey League written by the beat writer that covers the league.  He calls himself Dickie Dunn - his true identity is unknown.

Greetings hockey fans and welcome to another super edition of Hockey News BPHL: Special Edition Vol: 5.05.  Silver and Purple/Pink/White played the first contest of the season this week.  Unfortunately for Silver, a few trends seem to be forming as they took the loss.  The first trend is that of a rotating netminder.  Silver has had three different tenders in the first four games of the season.  This inconsistency between the pipes clearly has led to poor play in front of the crease.  Silver is unsure from game to game if their goalie has a good glove or if the blocker is the stronger side.  Does the goalie like to play the puck or stay away from it?  Does he control his rebounds, or do we need all hands on deck to clear the puck because it will likely be laying there like a rubber pizza waiting to be shoveled in by an opposing team's garbage man?  These are the questions that need answering.

Another trend is the continuing recruitment of new talent by seemingly anyone but the GM.  Maybe it will come in handy during the dog days of the season when injuries or more male cheerleading contests come up.

The third and most obvious trend is the losing and lack of offensive output.  Seemingly, the first two trends are the sole factors contributing to the losing trend, but several other factors are also at play.  For example, Paul Bednarz, a bruising veteran forward with a rifle wrister, was all set to sacrifice a live chicken in the dressing room in an effort to appease Jobu and hopefully drum up some scoring power.  The bird luckily did not make it through the security screening when entering the rink.  Jobu was instead offered a cigar and rum - he was not pleased.

The PLARSHMT & OBMASLF are not awarded in losses.  They are ONLY FOR WINNERS.  Despite the loss, Alex Cooper worked his tail off in all facets of the game to win the Faceoff Chain in back-to-back games.  This still does not make up for his previous absence and the team stated that his fine is still outstanding and starting to accrue interest.
