Hockey News! Special Edition Vol: 3.10

This is the 62nd posting of the news articles from the Beer and Pretzel Hockey League written by the beat writer that covers the league.  He calls himself Dickie Dunn - his true identity is unknown.

Greetings hockey fans and welcome to another fraud-free and VETERAN-SPONSORED article of Hockey News BPHL: Special Edition Vol: 3.10.  Let Hockey News take a moment to honor and salute the great veterans of the US armed forces that are serving and have served this great nation - THANK YOU for protecting our right to write about important topics such as BPHL hockey!

Silver took their overconfidence against Black to heart during their extended days off before Monday's tilt with Teal (which was in second place prior to puck drop in the BPHL standings).  Oddly enough, Teal had only one loss on the season which was also their first game against Silver.  Game one of the series wasn't particularly a well-played game from Silver but they ended up winning fairly easily on the score sheet by a margin of 8 - 4.  The second contest ended with the same result (a Silver victory) but was achieved on a different path.  Silver was also spurred on by their new socks and Ag bag-tags that were given out prior to the game, providing a very much appreciated boost to team morale.

Although Teal recorded the first tally of the game, it never seemed like they had much momentum.  Silver had many chances to get the puck to the net but ended up making a few too many extra moves and failed to record several shots.  The goals came by way of working hard, getting pucks deep, getting pucks to the net - which ultimately results in winning some hockey games.  Silver wasn't afraid to get it out, effectively clearing their own zone, getting the puck high and hard off the glass.  Silver was willing to go into the dirty areas and came out clean on the other side, winning 4 - 1.  They also got "the power play together," as suggested by a commentator on the blog site, converting on their lone opportunity.

The Prestigious LA Ross Silver Helmet Memorial Trophy and the Obscure Bryan "Mario" Alexander Silver Lancers Fedora (or PLARSHMT & OBMASLF) were officially awarded to Griffith Watson.  The star of the game award was clearly well deserved as Silver's net minder allowed a career-low one goal.  The one goal allowed also likely tied a record or set a record for the lowest total ever in a real BPHL game.  This article's Ag Player Silver Spotlight features a veteran of the Silver roster that is no stranger to the PLARSHMT & OBMASLF award, Jeff Harris.

He's a looker!

Harris is well-known in the hockey community for his skills and tendency to fill up the score sheet.  This isn't his first player profile and likely won't be his last.  Just a few short years ago, in 2013, Harris was named the MIAC Men's Hockey Athlete of the Week for his performance in two big wins for the St. Olaf Oles against bitter rival St. Thomas Tommies.  Harris netted four goals on the road in a hostile environment, adding to his conference-lead in points and goals while pushing his team to the top of the standings over the very same Tommies.  Later he won player of the YEAR!

Barbwire tattoo goes all the way around.

What you may not know about Harris is that he is also the front man of his very own self-titled country band.  Check out his album Angels and Scars available on apple music (probably).

Silver is back in action Thursday, 12 November at RALSTON Arena at 8:30 PM.  This will be the second edition of the PRECIOUS METALS game for the 2020 season.  Gold won in a shootout during round one of the series despite A-A-Ron Martens turning aside at least eight Gold shootout shots.  The outcome may be different this time around since Gold hasn't played Silver in their new sweaters - which clearly support the dominance of the true superior metal.  Come on down to the Ralston Arena, bring the kids!  We've got entertainment for the whole family.

Remember, Dickie Dunn wrote this, so it's gotta be true

Great game Ag. My favorite player scored a goal. My second favorite player got tossed from the game for having a huge fight. Can’t wait for game two of the precious metal series on NETV!

Thanks Anon! Who is your favorite player? You are not alone in the anticipation of the second 2020 season edition of the PRECIOUS METALS game. Ag followed your last advice about gettin the power play together - any other words of wisdom? Dickie

This weeks player spotlight of course! That big fella in the yellow sweats with the slow feet isn’t so bad either. Other words of wisdom... get the puck to Paul more. His shot is hard!
