Hockey News! Special Edition Vol: 2.08

Twenty-seventh posting of the news articles from the Beer and Pretzel Hockey League written by the beat writer that covers the league.  He calls himself Dickie Dunn - his true identity is unknown.

Greetings hockey fans and welcome to another stupendous article of Hockey News BPHL: Special Edition Vol: 2.8.  Black team squeaked out a win against Silver on Monday by the narrow score of 13 - 3.  It was very evident the reason for the loss fell squarely on the broad shoulders of the officiating crew, who missed several calls in favor of Black.  Chris Schneider was a notable unhealthy scratch due to a mishap in the shower two weeks ago.  One would think that injuries were more likely to happen on the ice, but one would be wrong.  Get well soon, Chris.

The equipment scratch saga continued Monday as Robbie B missed the third straight game.  There was some speculation in the Silver dressing room about the reasoning for the continued scratch, whether it be a monetary issue, an equipment availability issue, or a lack of understanding of basic economics.  When asked about the situation, New Mitch was quoted as saying, "I guess he doesn't understand the concept of 'sunk costs.' "  Barton and New Mitch's MicroEcon 101 professor were unavailable for comment on the matter.

The much anticipated return of Taylor Law did not disappoint as he netted two of the three Silver goals and won several draws, easily earning 3rd star of the game honors.  Silver probably would have certainly beat the spread had they not been stuck with only 8 skaters, missing Harris, #4, Korbel (who had permission from his wife) to name a few.  Mike Klingbeil was available to fill in, but no one called him.  Even this early in the season, it might be time for the owner to question the priorities of certain players.

Stars of the Game

2) Kris Thompson
3) Taylor Law

Silver has second game of a home and home against Black on Thursday at RALSTON at 9:45 PM.  Despite the Monday outcome, this game will still be a battle of the top teams in the BPHL standings. I recommend anyone with a million bucks to spare throw it down on Black for an EASY $100.  Just make sure you capture the spirit of the thing when you get to the window.

Although Silver is the main team covered in these articles, it seemed worth mentioning that Teal got their first win of the season last night against the previously formidable Red team which is led by BPHL 2-time all-star goaltender (and All-Millennium Twins Fantasy Camp All-Star), Matthew Slattery (of Slattery Design).  That makes the win extra special.  Congratulations Teal!

Remember, Dickie Dunn wrote this, so it's gotta be true
