Hockey News! Special Edition Vol: 3

Third posting of the news articles from the Beer and Pretzel Hockey League written by the beat writer that covers the league.  He calls himself Dickie Dunn - his true identity is unknown.

Greetings Hockey Fans!  Welcome to yet another fantastic edition of Hockey News BPHL: Special Edition, the hottest hockey news that you cannot live without!  Let's jump right into action and recap the latest game from Silver versus Red in the 3rd game of the triple header at Ralston Arena on Monday night.

I hope you didn't bet the mortgage money on the over like Bednarz did in the Precious Metals Game last week because you might find yourself out on the street or breaking legs for the Omaha Mafia to make up some rent money.  New Mitch clearly had the over - he got to work even before the game ended, knowing his over bet was sunk.  Who would have thought that RT Maher was in deep with the Rotella Crime Family despite his cushy job as the CFO of Woodmen?  This might be a case of mistaken identity as there is another Maher that is much more befitting as a degenerate gambler in deep with the mob.  Tough break RT, literally.

The game was close from the start, even though Red had opened up a 1-0 lead before Gangelhoff was on the bench (approximate first goal at 0:35 of the first period).  Eventually it was 2-0 before Silver fought back with a pair of goals from 4 and BAH-LOCK-EH (maybe).  Red took advantage of some shoddy refereeing and had 3 power plays (1/3), several missed offside calls, and one gigantic missed too many men penalty call that cost Silver an excellent scoring chance on what would have been a stellar power play (PP2 would get the goal with 20 seconds left (G-DeRouchey, A-Evans, A-Watson).  Wishful thinking aside, Charbuff didn't manage to completely fist Silver team and they ended up knotting the game at either 4-4 late in the third, eventually forcing a shootout.

Red went first and scored a la Kucherov (minus the intent).  Silver answered with a miss from 4.  Red then used up their fastest, most talented player Will Martin (this reporter refers to him as a dead ringer for the zombie creatures in I Am Legend starring Will Smith and Will Martin).  Griffith Watson made a great save to redeem himself on the Kucherov.  Paulie B got Silver on the board starting out wide right before coming in to snipe top glove on Slattery.  Red's third player also lost the puck on his shot, but this time it stayed out of the net.  New Mitch (probably the most excited anyone has ever been to take a penalty shot) finished off the victory for Silver making a sick move and burying it glove side on Slattery.

The win takes Silver to a two game streak and moves their record up to 5-15.  With 17 more games on the schedule, Silver team is heating up.  As long as Silver doesn't reach 1,763 degrees F, they'll be just fine.  Silver team is next in action against Black on Thursday, 21 February 2019 at 8:30 PM at Ralston Arena.  Come on out, we've got entertainment for the WHOLE FAMILY! Good seats are still available.

Remember, Dickie Dunn wrote this, so it's gotta be true
