Hockey News! Special Edition Vol: 3.45

This is the 97th posting of the news articles from the Beer and Pretzel Hockey League written by the beat writer that covers the league.  He calls himself Dickie Dunn - his true identity is unknown.

Greetings hockey fans and welcome to another PLAYOFF article of Hockey News BPHL: Special Edition Vol: 3.45.  Silver and White finished off the regular season with a tight game, the second in as many contests between the two teams.  There were a flurry of goals scored without much defense being played.  The contest ended in another deadlock (7 - 7), but did go to a shootout this time with White prevailing.  One can only wonder what may have happened if Silver team star Jeff Harris did not have his skates sabotaged by one of the White team members (probably) before the game.  Harris was hitting the deck so quickly, it had the teams looking in the rafters for the sniper.  Hopefully his skates are back to normal, after taking them to the team equipment manager at Scheels.

Although the Silver team focus was on the game at hand, the front office was clearly looking ahead to the first round of the playoffs - resting several key players in anticipation of a deep playoff run (for one).

The PLARSHMT & OBMASLF (and Faceoff Chain) may have also been stolen by the White team when they were pulling off their sabotage.

Silver is back in action Thursday, 22 April at RALSTON Arena at 7:00 PM.  Silver and Teal meet in the first round of the post-season.  Both teams will be extra hungry with the season on the line.  Speaking for the hockey community and the fans, one can only hope the game is called fairly.  Silver has had a long-standing issue with the BPHL league office regarding a huge bias against their team, amassing an astronomically large number (667 - to be exact) of disallowed goals.  All any team has to do is pull the puck out of the net before the official comes into the zone while affirming that it was not a goal, which gives that team about 39 seconds to do so.  The burden of proof for other teams scoring goals against Silver is essentially the complete opposite - if it even comes close to crossing the line, it will likely be scored as a goal - even if time has expired in the period.  This will be a key discussion item in the offseason talks between the league and the BPHLPA.  As for the game tonight, will Teal win their first of the calendar year or will Silver continue their dominance of Teal that spans two seasons?  There is only one way to find out.  Come on down to the Ralston Arena, bring the kids!  We've got entertainment for the whole family.

Remember, Dickie Dunn wrote this, so it's gotta be true
