This is the 64th posting of the news articles from the Beer and Pretzel Hockey League written by the beat writer that covers the league. He calls himself Dickie Dunn - his true identity is unknown.
Greetings hockey fans and welcome to another recounted article of Hockey News BPHL: Special Edition Vol: 3.12. Silver put the screws to Red on Monday night, winning by a score of 8 - 3. Bednarz and Mullendore got Silver going quickly and Silver never looked back despite having five key roster pieces missing in Harris, #4, Schneider, Voss, and DeRouchey. Luckily, Silver is in mid-season conditioning form and easily skated through the increase in ice time. Griffith Watson was stellar again between the pipes, putting together back-to-back wins, moving Silver's record to 4-3-2 (10 points).

The PLARSHMT & OBMASLF were officially awarded to Jake Mullendore for another stellar performance which included a sick shorthanded goal. Unfortunately, he was unavailable for a post-game comment or photo opp. The Ag Player Silver Spotlight features another younger player, now in his second season with the superior precious metal team - Alex "Coop" Cooper. This young man had a very trying rookie season, what with the litigation, the notoriety, his subsequent deportation to Canada and that country's refusal to accept him, I guess that's more than most 24-year-olds can handle.

The many faces of Coop |
Coop entered into his last phase of all hockey players' careers - beer league - after his senior season at Midland University (2017-18). What he lacks in stature, he makes up for with intensity and a feisty attitude that has led to a game ejection already this season. It likely will not be his last ejection of the season - you just cannot quell that kind of fire. Coop added a goal in Silver's Monday victory as well - taking a feed in the slot and burying it like a dog's favorite bone.
Player/coach Jim DeRouchey stated in an interview before leaving for an important business trip (reason for missing the tilt), "The Ag Player Silver Spotlight player is now officially responsible for bringing refreshments to the next game." The rest of the Silver roster will be hoping Coop got an early Christmas bonus from Scheels in order to afford a nice 30-rack of Busch Lattes.
He is well-liked by all his teammates as well. A story was told of him throwing his body in harms way in order to save a vehicle from being stolen from a Silver player last season. You can't teach that kind of true-silver loyalty. The would-be thief was likely hired by a Gold team member. They seem to always be up to dirty games.

First off, long time fan of the team first time posting to the blog. Dickie, how about some love for the third line guys on the team? I’d like to see a player spotlight on some of the team veterans like Evans, Barton or Bednarz. Also, how about a shoutout to Gangelhoff. According to my spreadsheet he scored his 500th goal on Monday night. Come on Dickie, do your research
Thanks for the love, Anon! We'll certainly take your suggestions into consideration - unlike the fake news MSM, Hockey News! welcomes all forms of criticism. Full disclosure - all the players will get a spotlight feature this season, so no worries there! Please send over the stat spreadsheet - our file was corrupted and so we lost all stats on the league since it's inception (probably should have had a back up file - lesson learned). Slattery has been unresponsive in requests for a copy of the season stats. He must be busy running the schedule and website. Hope to see you in the stands for tonight's game! - Dickie
Dickie, where can I send my spreadsheet???
