Hockey News! Special Edition Vol: 3.06

This is the fifty-eighth posting of the news articles from the Beer and Pretzel Hockey League written by the beat writer that covers the league.  He calls himself Dickie Dunn - his true identity is unknown.

Greetings hockey fans and welcome to another winter wonderland article of Hockey News BPHL: Special Edition Vol: 3.06.  Silver battled with Red in the first of a home and home last Thursday night at Ralston War Memorial Arena.  Despite being out-chanced and out-classed, Red team secured the win in a shootout after skating to a 4-4 tie in regulation.  Silver led most of the game or was tied before falling behind late in the third period.  Despite the poor play in front of goaltender A-A-Ron Martens, the lone bright spot for Silver, a late surge knotted the game and a few more chances nearly earned Silver the victory in regulation.  Instead, the tied game moved to a shootout with BPHL associate official Tom "Flame On" Roehr overseeing the procedure.

Both goalies continued their strong play in the shootout, turning aside four shots apiece before Martens finally let one past him.  This marks Silver's second consecutive late game comeback to tie and lose in shootout.  According to team sources, Silver has been running the "showdown" drill nonstop during practice since Thursday.

The Prestigious LA Ross Silver Helmet Memorial Trophy and the Obscure Bryan "Mario" Alexander Silver Lancers Fedora were OFFICIALLY awarded to A-A-Ron Martens after one of his most stellar performances in net which extended well into the shootout.  This week's Ag Player Silver Spotlight again features the star of the game.  Martens, a long-time BPHL veteran, is a true steward of the game.  Also a great "room guy," Martens is always there for any teammate, whether it's offering a ride to one in need, organizing golf outings, putting the lumber into Anders Wang's teeth in the crease (to let 'em know he's there), or cooking entire meals on his trusty grill.  He's no slouch out of the net either - while he may make questionable decisions handling the puck as the goalie - put a player stick in his hands and the game changes tremendously.  Not known as the fastest player on the ice, he uses his soft hands and body to shield the puck while exhibiting surprising poise and calm under pressure - for a goalie.

Sick threads!

Stars of the Game

2) Black Knight (Red Goalie)
3) Chris "Yale" Inserra, M.D.

Silver gets the Red team again in the second of a home and home tonight at RALSTON ARENA at 7:30 PM.  Will Silver get revenge as they move back to their home ice or will the ghost of Kyle Korbel colorblind them into bad passing and poor shooting?  You'll only know if you get your tickets now!  Coincidentally it is glasses give away night - any family with a colorblind kid gets a free pair of EnChroma colorblind cure glasses frames with the purchase of any large beer (lenses not included).  Come on down to the Ralston Arena, bring the kids!  We've got entertainment for the whole family.

Remember, Dickie Dunn wrote this, so it's gotta be true

Took off work today to tailgate the game. Go get em tonight Ag. The other night at the Aces I was telling player coach Jeff “Dunlop” Evans that you guys really need to work on your power play!

Thanks Anon - I'm sure Ag will take that into account during their game against the Phantoms this Thursday. Why don't you come on down and see the game, compliments of Ag - I have some tickets that player/coach Dunlop dropped off down at the office. Come on by and get a handful!
